Last night, I arrived home from the depths of the long day I had. My mind was foggy and my body sluggish. I reeled at the smallest of things and was surprised by almost everything. That is what happens when I am super tired.
I sat down on the couch, raspberry tea in hand, and turned on one of my shows. I followed the story for all of 2 minutes before I was drifting off to sleep.
Twilight.
My mind swam voices, images, and different things floating in and out. Woken out of the slumbering sleep by my own obnoxious snore, I rolled over, and fell back asleep. My head lolled and my mind snapped back into the ever-sleep.
Conversations arrived simmering around the edges as the cadence of the voices leaped with each rising pitch. The voices still in a loll as if talking to someone through a pillow. One sounded off, like a woman's voice in a deep ocean. Deep yet high controlled by ever soft whispering.
My brain turned off. The world slipped away, and all that I had known was forgotten. My dreams leaped through my mind sending me skittering through my imaginations appeal. I couldn't help myself as I was flung back and forth over and again.
Memories, nightmares, and day-dreams ever present in my mind. Each a forbidding tone written within the depths of imaginations rhyme. Held onto by generations past and ever forgotten things I have at long last remembered. Challenged and forgotten things that never seem to find the truth of day.
My mind swirled and brought things never seen before, people never that I have met, and long lists of things that might come to fruition in the deep spaces of time that seem to be lost within the dream-scape.
I found myself on the run for my life. Things chasing me that I couldn't escape. I pulled out a bone sword. Familiarity, I had seen it before. I swung the blade hacking at the lifeless moving body trying to tear into me.
A memory bubbled to the surface, me. I stood by a counter piling on gear. I remembered the turmoil of the last four decades. There were those of us who had survived and those who had turned. I was old and yet still looked prime. I had contracted a virus that left me unchanged by time. In fact my group was dead. We were yet we didn't rot like the corpses that chased us night and day.
I had left my whispering ax behind. The memory of it's amazing power dripping from my fingers as each swing sliced like butter through anything in my way.
Pain tore through me as I was roughly hurled back to the present. My hear pounding in my chest beating a death rhythm into me. The bone blade broke. Scrambling, looking, I sought another weapon. I didn't see one. I turned to run.
A hand grabbed my ankle and I felt a small twinge of pain. I had been cut. My life was over. I looked at my companions and saw the pain written in their faces as they realized what I would become. Tears sprang to my eyes. I couldn't believe it. It couldn't be true.
What had I lived through to only die here! Why? I thought to myself my abilities for all I had I was nothing against the might of this virus that was no doubt re-writing my DNA.
I woke. Sweat dripping from my brow. Sleep clinging to me trying to pull me back under. I clambered out of be. Scared wondering if I really was awake. Hesitant as the dream-scape still held me in check my fears not yet dawning the truth.
I slowly walked out of the bedroom. I had a glass in hand. Even in sleep, prepared for danger. I walked around the house. My head slowly awakening. Realization dawned on me. I was finally awake. Literally in the physical world.
I found myself. Tired, scarred, and very confused. Why had my mind gone to something I so feared and something I rarely watch for fear of these dreams?
I sank onto the couch and after awhile sleep claimed me for a dreamless few hours.
So I had dreamed this last night, and felt like sharing it. Not sure if others ever have nightmares like that. I didn't go into as much detail as my dream was. I dream very vividly. I pay attention to detail, and that is both a blessing and a curse, because my dreams always seem realistic. Every little thing has meaning and great detail.
Share your dreams. I would love to read about them. Dreams are meaningful.
The last week has really flown by so fast I didn't have time to get on here. It was one of those weeks. You know what I mean? Between bad reviews on my blog to irritated customer's at work it was just a hard long week.
Also, for those of you who are avid bloggers.
Just so you know, if I don't come up to your expectations you do not have to berate me because you think I am doing it wrong. I don't write for people's pleasure. I simply write because I like to write. Nothing more and nothing less.
If you don't like it, you don't have to read it.
